Landscape Painting at Florence Thomas School

This is the next step with Raney towards painting a landscape in a slower, more controlled way yet still maintaining the joy and lightness of the art process. Raney has studied under Robert Bateman, Charles Frace, Heiner Hertling in particular to learn about the atmosphere and how it affects color as well as how to simplify shapes for a well honed composition.   You will learn about all aspects of painting landscapes, whether plein air or in the studio and tips to discern the light and how light affects color.  We will work from photographs for this session and have an entire afternoon to paint, reflect, correct and complete your work.  Learn how to look, assess, mark and refine anything that you put into your masterpiece.  Learning to paint landscapes changes the way you look at the world around you forever.
